What is a cookie?

Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information which are downloaded to your personal computer, mobile or other device when you visit a website. Cookies are then sent back to the originating website on each subsequent visit, or to another website that recognises that cookie. Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognise a user's device.

Persistent cookies - these cookies remain on a user's device for the period of time specified in the cookie. They are activated each time that the user visits the website that created that particular cookie.

Session cookies - these cookies allow website operators to link the actions of a user during a browser session. A browser session starts when a user opens the browser window and finishes when they close the browser window. Session cookies are created temporarily. Once you close the browser, all session cookies are deleted.

Cookies do lots of different jobs, like letting you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences, and generally improve the user experience. They can also help to ensure that adverts you see online are more relevant to you and your interests.

You can find more information about cookies at www.allaboutcookies.org and www.youronlinechoices.eu.

Lava Shell Treatments

Winner of Irish Tatler Spa Awards 2015 & seen on TV3's Xposé

In September 2014 we introduced a new treatment to our Spa & Wellness Space at The Marker Hotel. We were one of the first spa hotels in Dublin to introduce this anticipated therapy, adding a new level of luxury to our extensive treatment menu. It has been a popular addition to our Spa and Wellness Space and we are delighted to announce we were awarded “Best Body Treatment” at the Irish Tatler Spa Awards 2015. Our Lava Shell treatments have also been featured on TV3’s Xposé – with beauty contributor Liz Dwyer – who regarded our Glacial Shell treatment as “incomparable” to any treatment she has had previously.

The Lava Relax Body Massage

The Lava Relax Body Massage is the world’s first self-heating massage therapy. This new treatment is a unique innovation in warming spa therapies that concentrates on easing muscle and joint aches and pains and promotes a deep sense of relaxation. The therapy works on the feet, legs, back and shoulders to loosen muscle tension with deep tissue massage working directly on knots and stress points. The treatment encourages the body’s natural energy flow and nurtures a balanced body and mind.

The Glacial Shell Detox Treatment - as featured on TV3's Xposé

The Glacial Shell Detox Treatment is the newest development in glacial therapy. One heated Lava Shell and two chilled Glacial Shells are massaged on the body in long slow flowing motions, with particular attention to the legs and stomach. Fatty tissues are broken down and the circulation is stimulated with the effective combination of hot and cold pressure on sensory points and muscles. This process breaks down any uncomfortable build up in the digestive system. The therapy tackles congested areas such as the large intestine, while stimulating the lymphatic system to cultivate the body’s own natural cleansing system. This is a new and innovative treatment to come to a Spa Hotel in Dublin. Experience the extraordinary at The Marker Hotel.
