The Marker Hotel Irish Soda Bread

The recipe for traditional Irish soda bread dates back to the 1800’s. Today, we present Executive Chef Gareth Mullins’ own recipe for soda bread for you to enjoy a slice of Ireland wherever you are. 



  1. Mix all the dry ingredients by hand in a mixing bowl
  2. Add the buttermilk and mix by hand until the dough is wet
  3. Pour the dough into a buttered bread loaf tin
  4. Bake at 160 degrees celsius for 50 minutes to an hour
  5. Remove the bread from the loaf tin
  6. Allow to cool on a wire rack, and enjoy!
